My Philosophy of Music Education

I believe that every student has the right and privilege to an education in the arts. I feel that each student deserves that in a safe and nurturing environment. I firmly stand for setting students up for success. As a teacher, it is my duty and obligation to provide students with the knowledge to succeed in all parts of their life. This is accomplishable by showing students that they are important members of my class, the school and the community. It is important to teach students how to respect themselves and the world around them.
All students learn differently and it is perhaps the ultimate challenge to the teacher. Opportunities must be provided for ALL learners to learn. Information must adhere to the curriculum and be presented in ways that appeal to all students at all levels. Not every student is a musical prodigy, but it is my job to instill an appreciation for the arts and, more specifically, music through traditional and contemporary repertoire.
I feel that through proper planning and continuing educational opportunities, it is my job and lifelong passion to provide students with learning experiences that will last a lifetime.
